Original 50 Caliber Bullet Bottle Opener (00:33)
They say that mimicry is the greatest form of flattery but in business that is not the case. Recently, I read about a company named Bottle Breacher who will be a member on an upcoming Shark Tank Episode. The company, known for their line of branded Bottle Breacher Bullet Bottle Opener reminds me a lot of our company. In fact over the course of the past week I have received numerous calls for companies asking when we were going to be on the show.
Now while it is NOT us that is going to be on Shark Tank, I found it weird that Bottle Breacher literally mimicked every aspect of our story, with the except that my co-founder and I were Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Guys and....... We launched the company in January 2011 and..... We have Intellectual Property rights to both the term Caliber and The Shape of A Bullet as a Bottle Opener.
The Original .50 Caliber Bullet Bottle Opener not the Bottle Breacher one that was recently show on Shark Tank can be found at http://www.bullets2bandages.org/50-caliber-bullet-bottle-opener/
The origins of the 50 Caliber Bottle Opener comprised of the same material as the one shown on Shark Tank's Bottle Breacher episode can be traced back to end World War I when John Browning introduced US Forces to the M2 Machine Gun or Browning .50 Caliber Machine Gun. Unlike previous machine guns, this gun used a larger and much more powerful cartridge, designated the .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun) cartridge, which provided more "stopping power" for the guys on the front lines. While the M2 or "Ma Deuce" was new, the concept of transforming materials of war into a piece of art or even a gift, was not, so it was there in the trenches of WW I that the .50 Caliber Bottle Opener was born and term "Trench Art" was coined.
Over the years Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines have passed down the tradition of the .50 Caliber Bottle Opener but it was not until two Former Special Operations Officers (EOD) in San Diego, CA started making them, that they became a Nation Sensation.

Initially, the idea for the Bullets2Bandages Bullet Bottle Opener was to use it as a tool to raise money for the Veteran Focused Charity the Travis Manion Foundation www.travismanion.com. However, quickly after starting, the response was so overwhelming that the founders decided to turn this idea into a business with a social mission. Today Bullets2Bandages continues to partner with and raise money for Veteran charities through a multitude of ways and still is the nations largest manufacturer of the Bottle Opener.
The Bullet Bottle Opener is one of the top rated Groomsman Gifts on the market and is perfect for Military Retirements or raising money for the Veteran Charity of your choice. The .50 Cal Bottle Opener is made from previously fired 50 BMG brass that is purchased from the Department of Defense and reloaded with a Lead Free Full Metal Jacket Projectile or "Bullet". After that the team at Bullets2Bandages cuts the bullet using a CNC machine and polishes it to perfection using two outrageously large vibratory tumblers. All of the operations take place in San Diego, CA and to date the company is Veteran owned and Operated.
